Edge Undefeated

Waco Edge faced off with equally ranked Boca Juniors in what would be a great battle between the two U14 boy’s undefeated teams. Boca Juniors came to play their third division game this season with a shinning 8 goals for and 0 goals scored against. Waco Edge brought their 9 goals for and 1 goal scored against and a thirst to win.

Boca Juniors kicked off to start the match. Boca would immediately charge into to dominate the Edge’s defending side. However, Boca Juniors, failed to realizes that the Edge’s defense would remain tight and would not spread to leave open spaces for Boca to operate. Edge’s defense would shut Boca down and advance the ball to their midfielders to build up an attacking play.

Boca Juniors defense was not one to recon with, holding a spotless 0 scores against them. However, the Edge saw this as a challenge and not an obstacle. Waco Edge with their speed and quick passing would penetrate deep into Boca’s defense. Boca’s defense was strong and held the Edge until late in the first half. Then the Edge opened up Boca’s defense and with a cross play Boca Juniors had been scored against by the Edge, shattering their impenetrable defense.

Wanting retribution, Boca Juniors came out the second half fighting. Waco Edge would fight back to maintain their lead. Edge’s defense appeared impenetrable to Boca, like a brick wall. Edge’s midfielders and strikers continued to press Boca’s defense. Then with less then 5 minutes in the game, Edge sliced through Boca’s defense once more and placed one to the back of the net. This would then seal the fate of Boca Juniors. The Edges defense stood fast and the Edge shut out Boca Juniors 2-0.

Waco Edge 2, Waco Heat 2

Waco Edge faced off with Waco Heat once again in hopes for some revenge from their previous loss to them 4 to 2. Waco edge stepped up their game and aggressiveness to match that of Waco Heat. The Edge would be the first and only one to score during the first half of what turned out to be a full contact game. With parents in an uproar from both sides, they could be heard from across the field condemning the aggressive contact against their team. Then in the second half Waco Heat would score with a lucky bounce off the far goal post. Waco Edge would answer back with a sold kick that sliced into the Heat’s net. Then with 5 minuets left in the game, Waco Heat, struck back hard. Not wanting to be beaten, they pushed through the Edge’s defiance with a quick break and would place one in the Edge's goal to tie the game 2 to 2. What an outstanding effort from both teams.
